Decían los detractores de Glen Campbell que sacaba una canción de cualquier cosa, sin embargo a muchos nos impresiona su don para ver la poesía por todas partes.
Veamos este "lineman" de Wichita. Es un tío que se pasa el día vigilando las líneas de teléfono en una región fria para prevenir las averías causadas por la nieve o el viento. Probablemente conduce un pick-up destartalado y va forrado de ropa gruesa de trabajo, un currante sin más.
Sin embargo Campbell se mete en su chaquetón y en sus botas y oye a su amor cantando por el alambre y en el gemido del viento.
Campbell defiende también el orgullo del trabajador americano, nuestro lineman siente la nostalgia de la soledad, necesita vacaciones, pero a pesar de todo está en la línea "is still on the line"
Por esta canción y por muchas otras, a muchos nos gusta el country. ( aunque algunos digan que esto no es country)
